Storyboard Artist
I collected some of my favorite sequences from episodes 3 and 6. Because of the format of the show some context is in the live action recording which isn't seen. Two storytellers are talking about some of their favorite car related stories and the animation brings to life the crazy antics of Smokey Yunick, the Dodge Brothers and Henry Ford as well as the Vanderbilt car racing enthusiast.
The only style reference we worked from were these key frames by the director Daniel Katz. He wasn't concerned about staying on model preferring that we draw in our own style as long as the cars looked right and the boards were snappy we got an OK!
Daniel encouraged us to find fun an interesting ways to spice up the stories. In one sequence I took inspiration fro anime style for this dramatic punch by Horace Dodge (they were the rough and tumble sort).
